- Q: What is bliinGPSXS ?
- A: bliinGPSXS is a free and easy applet that sends your GPS-location to bliin. Once installed and running it enables seamless - Live! - positioning and frees you of manually entering your location.
How it works
- Q: How does it work ?

A: bliinGPSXS uses mobile internet to connect to the bliin servers.
It sends your GPS coordinates to bliin to position you Live! on the map. You can run bliinGPSXS
in the background while enjoying m.bliin.com in your mobile browser.
Supported handsets
- Q: Which handsets are supported

A: bliinGPSXS supports most J2ME enabled phones (NOKIA, SonyEricsson, Samsung, etc)
with internal or Bluetooth external GPS. bliinGPSXS also supports Windows Mobile
(Smartphone and PocketPC) devices, iPhones and BlackBerry RIM handsets.
Settings
- Q: Where do I set my account settings ?
- A: When you have downloaded and installed bliinGPSXS, a dialog will prompt you for your bliin username and password. You must be registered at bliin to use bliinGPSXS.
- Q: Selecting GPS ?
- A: When you have installed bliinGPSXS for internal GPS, mark the internal option in the GPS device selector. If you have a Bluetooth external GPS, mark the Bluetooth option. bliinGPSXS will scan your Bluetooth devices within reach. make sure you GPS device is turned on! while searching. Select your GPS device and hit save.
- Q: All done, but im not Live! ?
- A: As with all GPS based services, you need a satellite fix to locate yourself. When bliinGPSXS has a satellite fix, a third Live! icon will start flashing, indicating you are placed on the map.
- Q: What do you mean with send interval ?
- A: Send interval determines the periodical coordinate sending to bliin. By default this is set to every 15 seconds. You may choose to change this - to shave data costs - to every 15 minutes, or manually. If you set to manually you must press send everytime you want to update your location on bliin.
- Q: What is the Web button for ?
- A: bliinGPSXS is designed to run as a locator in the background of your phone. It's just a small automatic locator. The real bliin experience is designed within your mobile browser. Click the web button to launch you default browser ... which takes you straight to m.bliin.com ... enjoy!
Manual positioning
- Q: How can i position myself manually ?
- A: If you don't have a GPS handset you can manually set your position by clicking the map. With each click you zoom deeper into the map, untill you reach streetlevel; marked by little crosses on the map. When you have selected a location, you can name your bookmark for quick revisits later.
IP-location
- Q: What is IP-location ?
- IP-location captures the IP address of your handset and translates this to a geo-location. It can be a fairly accurate method, but you remain on a static location on bliin.
Upload Photo
- Q: How can I upload a Photo Share?

A: By email to: your personal upload address (shown in the upload form) or through this upload form.
Windows Mobile users can also use auto-upload in bliinGPSXS to automatically upload photos with a specified name-string.
- Q: My Photo Share is misplaced … what's wrong ?
- A: bliin will match the timestamp in your Photo with your Live! time on bliin. If the timestamp in the Photo can not be matched, bliin will take the nearest Live! location to position your Photo. When things continue to go wrong, make sure the time on your handset is correct; including TimeZone and DaylightSavings settings.
- Q: Can I re-position my Photo Shares ?
- A: Unfortunately not … but we are working on this feature so stay in touch.
Record Trip
- Q: What is a Trip ?
- A: A Trip is a journey or a route that you record on bliin for your archives and for playback later. Recorded Trips will give you the exact locations where you have been, the time you traveled, the distance that you traveled and your average speed.
- Q: How to record a Trip ?
- A: Simple: enter your Trip name in me > share > record trip and hit record.
- Q: How to stop recording ?
- A: Go back to me > share and click stop recording to stop your Trip.
Create Group
- Q: What is a Group ?
- A: Create or Join Groups to access or maintain your People network, you can also share Group Photos with other Members. Groups, like Spots have Privacy rights and restrictions.
- Q: How can I Join a Group ?
- A: Use the [Join Group] feature to become Member of a Group.
The [Post In] feature
- Q: What is the [Post In] feature ?
- A: This is a central piece of functionality on bliin. You use it to Post Content Items in your Collections: Albums, Spots or Groups. The Item inherits the Collections Privacy.
- Q: I can also Post In World, Friends & Private … what’s that ?
- A: These are default groups on bliin with default Privacy levels.
- Q: Can I Post other Peoples Items in my Collections ?
- A: Yes you can, but ofcourse you’re not allowed to breach the Privacy of the Item. Example: You can’t remove an item from a World Group to a Group that’s set to Private.
- Q: Can I Post Items in multiple Collections ?
- A: Yes you can, as many as you like. Also other People may Post your Items in their Collections.
Send location
- Q: What is 'Send location via SMS' ?
- A: This feature lets you send an SMS to any of your contacts in your adress book. The SMS includes a direct link to your location on bliin ... might come handy if you are late for an appointment ...
My Inbox
- Q: What is in my Inbox ?
- A: Your Inbox contains all Messages that other bliin users have sent you, and Comments that other bliin users have added to your Shares.
My friends
- Q: Friends on bliin ?
- A: Friends are fellow bliiners who have special access to you and your shares. Friends is a visibility and security mode that you can set when ever you want. Only your Friends have access to you when your visibility is set to Friends. You may find your Friends positions by clicking the Friends link under the Home button.
My photos
- Q: My Photos ?
- A: This is your archive of Photo Shares that you have uploaded to bliin.
My Trips
- Q: My Trips ?
- A: This is your archive of Trips that you have recorded on bliin.
My Groups
- Q: Groups on bliin ?
- A: A Group is a Collection of People. Groups have Owners and Members. use the [Join Group] feature to Join a Group.
My Spots
- Q: What is a Spot ?
- A: Spots are locations of interest you whish to share with others or save Privately. Use the [Visit Spot] feature to broadcast your Spot to other People in your network. Spots have Owners, Members and Guests.
